I am going to the Drs but before I do wondered if anyone else has experienced the same as there may be a bettter way to explain it to Dr....
Sometimes when moving my neck, (and has been when i have moved slowly or fast) i get a sudden burning like shooting pain down left side of my neck, it goes icy cold, sometimes i cant move my neck for a bit and it kind of feels like when you knock your funny bone?
Sometimes the episode will last a few seconds but lately its getting worse as the other night lasted couple minutes.
I remember having the same problem going back as long as i can remember ( even at school) but has been more frequent of late.
this is the sort of thing I usually recommend osteopathy for. I don't know what it is, but chances are a couple of vertebrae in your neck are pinching one of the nerves that round down through them. Osteopaths are good at nudging spines back into line. GPs aren't particularly, though they may send you for physio, which would help.
Naomi is correct.......if you have had symptoms since childhood, then we are not dealing with a "wear and tear" situation, as there may well be a congenital problem.
See you DR first.
I had a problem with my back misdiagnosed by a GP who, wrongly, sent me to a physiotherapist. I now have permanent nerve damage to my spine. Whether the problem is old or new I’d advise anyone to have a scan to ascertain exactly what’s wrong before embarking on any sort of treatment.
Just to say the description is very familiar. Not for a while now though. Never lasting long enough for me to consider it worth investigating. Assumed everyone got it occasionally.
Thanks for all your answers. Old Geezer, yes i thought it was just one of those things and didnt think much of it, its only recently its got more frequent and was more painful that i thought maybe i should look into it...im usually someone who just gets on with things!
Great advise, i may go see Dr and see if a scan can be done and go from there.
