I had my last period about 3 years ago. On Tuesday I started bleeding, it is quite heavy. All smears up to date and clear. Should I be worried?

im no doctor, but I do believe post menopausal bleeding should be investigated.
not necessarily a cause to worry, but well worth getting checked out.
I would say not to worry ,this often happens specially if you are on HRT of some kind ,please do not panic ..it is normal !

Thank you all for your quick answers, Im not on any HRT.

I'm trying not to worry
When I had a similar problem the doctor told me that any bleeding that occurs more than twelve months after your last period is classed as an abnormal bleed and should be checked out.

Please do go and see the doc. It might well be nothing but it is better to be safe than sorry.
bonkers, where is the evidence that ' this is normal '?
Question Author
I think I will ring in the morning and see what they say... if I can get an appointment! which isn't very likely at my doctors.

Thank you all
jubie, no harm in seeing gp, as far as I am aware the vast majority of PMB is not anything to worry about, but a visit to gp will at least. ' put your mind at rest '' take care

thanks anne. it's great being a woman eh lol x
Hrt can cause this sort of bleeding ,are you suffering cramps, any other symptons etc to suggest that things maybe astray ? Are you stressed about anything in your life right now ,tired ..I am simply saying that it is normal in most cases ..but if you have cause for alarm do visit your GP...if really concerned ,let's be honest here ,you wouldn't come on here for advice ..am i right ?? Good luck
bonkers. jubie is NOT on HRT, and has not been menstruating for 3 years.

My apologies as threads were being written that i had not seen ! I have vast experience in this area so i do not take my comments lightly ! And i will stick my neck out here and say that the majority are perfectly normal and nothing to worry about .I would visit your GP to put your mind at rest ,good luck .

Thank you bonkers I will visit GP
Let us know how you go, Jubianna and as regards getting an appointment, I am a great believer in telling the receptionist precisely why I want to be seen and soon.

I am very lucky with my practice, thankfully.

Take care. x
Sorry - Jubieanna.
