I have been prescribed this for my ibs which only used to bother me once a month now it's a bit more persistent. However my question is am I meant to take this all the time or only when I eat what triggers it (I will be changing my diet slightly) there was no leaflet with my tablets and the one online doesn't tell me this - I did ask my dr but I think he may have forgotten or not heard and the pharmacy is useless. Thank you if you can point me in the right direction

On an old box here, it says three times a day.
I used to take another med for IBS...three times a day when the condition was noticeable. Take mebeverine with plenty of water and not before going to bed. And expect constipation!
i think that the answer to this will vary with the severity of your IBS.

if you are getting attacks on a weekly basis or more, then I would take Mebeverine twice daily about 30 mins before your meals.

However, if you attacks come on in "bouts" separated by a couple of weeks or more, then i would start taking it at the first sign of a "bout."

See how it goes and what helps. Good luck x
I was told to take it about twenty minutes before I ate.

I never know when I'm going to get it...my symptoms appear usually an hour after I eat something when I'm due a monthly visit. I'm not even due one for another fortnight at least and this has been nasty. But will see how things pan out and see how I get on

You take it every day queenie, I take it three times a day before meals for my Crohns.
I must say, it has never caused constipation for me, but everyone is different. X
