Hey all.

Well after months of wanting, I have finally started running on a daily basis.

I have read up on the best ways for an absolute beginner like me to get into the groove. I have my comfy shoes and clothes, my ipod blasting some tunes and a dedicated, scenic route.

I was just wondering if anyone has any hints or tips that could help me on my way.
I am extremely unfit and am currently running a couple of mins then walking a couple etc to slowly build up endurance. I am struggling to control my breathing whilst running and have read its best to slow down to help this. It feels like I just can't take in enough air. Also to breath with the belly rather than the chest which I will attempt tomorrow.

Any other ideas that might help me get the most out of this experience? I am intending on going for a run everyday.

Thanks in advance!

Kirst.

Bend and stretch, especially leg muscles before running, a bit of a warm up.
Don't run straight after eating.
Take water to sip on, don't drinks "lots".
Don't over do it, build your run up over time.
Be patient otherwise you may become one :-)
Good luck
I'd start walking before running, build into it gradually and strengthen yourself...good on you
