Keep applying for those jobs - you will get one.
You are allowed to feel a bit tearful and down about your situation - don't beat yourself up about it.
I don't think it helps that you are sitting at home alone each day. Can you get out and about and get some form of exercise? Going for a walk/jog/bike ride is free...or how about going for a swim? Exercise really does make you feel better and might help with your insomnia.
I am sure others will advise you to go and see your GP. If you are harbouring very dark thoughts then I would advice you hot foot it pronto to your GP. If you are just generally 'down' I personally would advice against anti depressants as they can cause their own set of problems. This is just my own personal opinion as I am not a great believer in medication which helps mask a problem (i.e. being out of work). The problem is still there at the end of the day.
