Go and see your doctor, Bernie. A mild anti-depressant could help you get back to normal.
I am so sorry to hear this.
Keep applying for those jobs - you will get one.
You are allowed to feel a bit tearful and down about your situation - don't beat yourself up about it.
I don't think it helps that you are sitting at home alone each day. Can you get out and about and get some form of exercise? Going for a walk/jog/bike ride is free...or how about going for a swim? Exercise really does make you feel better and might help with your insomnia.
I am sure others will advise you to go and see your GP. If you are harbouring very dark thoughts then I would advice you hot foot it pronto to your GP. If you are just generally 'down' I personally would advice against anti depressants as they can cause their own set of problems. This is just my own personal opinion as I am not a great believer in medication which helps mask a problem (i.e. being out of work). The problem is still there at the end of the day.
Sending you a big hug xxx

First of all, Bernie, I am sorry that you are going through this. Secondly, have you sought any help from your GP? You might not be able to fight this by yourself.

will do
Best of luck, bernie. And do keep applying for jobs, you will get one eventually.
I think the lethargy is the worst part. It's horrible when you can't be bothered to do anything because everything is too much trouble.
The good thing bernie is that you've recognised you have the start of depression but still have some get-up-and-go to do something about it. Stay as positive as you can, try and occupy yourself around the house in the short term but above all else, as others have said, seek help quickly.
I kinda agree with MrsO...it's a bit soon to be put on anti depressants and it's more than likely that your doctor will prescribe them.

I'd try the keep busy route first. Make a plan for your days and include as much fresh air as possible.

just phoned docs no appointments til fr night ...great
So turn it into a positive bernie. "Right i've got to occupy myself till Friday; what can I do? where can I go? What jobs need doing in the garden? What's for dinner?" etc
I agree with Captain.
Can you cook? If you can, plan meals and cook something you have never tried to cook before.
If you can't cook, now is the time to learn a new skill. Get a recipe book out and get cracking!
Please do something in the fresh air each day.
