Blurred Vision
6 Answers
I have blurred vision in my right eye, not due to any trauma, just a gradual happening. Went to my optician who took a photo of the rear of the eye and says it appears I have had a burst blood vessel. She referred me to an optometrist as an urgent case. The NHS now tells me I have to wait at least two weeks for an appointment. In the meantime can anyone tell me of their own experiences with such a complaint. Can it be cured with or without surgical intervention? Dave

The most commonest cause is the blockage of a vein in the retina, which may be age related or maybe due to diabetes. This is by far away the commonest and usually clears without treatment.
Detached retina can also occur causing bleeding, but this does require surgery but your symptoms do not suggest this.

Thanks Sqad and York310. I was referred to an opthalmologist who has diagnosed the problem described by you both. Next I have to have a Fluorescein Angiogram done and this enables the consultant team to determine the best treatment to provide which may include surgical intervention such as lazer or injections into the eye.
