Slaney is the expert, but in a nutshell, they are chemically different, all of them "thin the blood", different speed of actions and the newer ones do not need frequent blood tests (INR)
Cost?...the newer ones are more expensive.

i didn't know you needed frequent blood tests if your'e on blood thinners .

What is the test for , sqad - and is Clopidogrel one of the newer ones ?

Bazille......INR (blood test) is only needed for Warfarin.

Clopidogrel is a "newer" anticoagulant and as it works differently from Warfarin, INR would not be of much use.

In simple terms..very simple...Warfarin "thins" the blood, but the newer drugs act at a different place in the clotting mechanism.

End result is the same.
