Copper Coil Fitted - Extreme Pain And Complications
6 Answers
Has anyone here had the COPPER coil fitted?
I did on monday and it was possibly one of the most excrucuating pain ive ever experienced - the nurse even removed my hand from my mouth because i was biting it.
i am very used to having a lot of pain in my tum due to various other medical issues - so have a fairly high pain threshhold, but this was extreme
it seems i have a very small cervix (which is kind of normal for someone with no kids - but mine is especially small) and also a small womb and she couldnt seem to get it in very well - half way through she changed the type of coil to a mini one, and used about 3 -4 different instruments /gadgets to insert it, to enlarge the cervix etc etc - had to keep asking the nurse to get her another a few times, all were covered in blood and she seemed to be having trouble doing it, like slipping etc
the nurse even joked that myblood was making a right mess on her floor ...
they didnt seem to think there was any problems but id been lead to believe it was just a bit of a period type pain and in, no problems.
so i just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience, or was theirs really simple?
im not looking to cause any issues for anyone - just wondering why it was so painful - and if it was fairly common
though seriuously if that was normal theyd surely have to use a local anasthetic!
thanks
