A little bit of honey might help.
I know little about diabetes but there are plenty of sweeteners to choose from. I use Splenda in hot drinks. But check the health sites to ensure they are all suitable for you. That said I'd never try green tea again, yuk ! :-p

Yes I may try a small spoonful next time my 1st cup was very bitter tasting
You could try Stevie.
But the trouble with using artificial sweetners is that you don't rid yourself of the taste for sweet things.
I read somewhere that even artificial sweetners can spike an insulin response.
*stevia*...

Hi pasta I use hermesetas I will try one next time
As pasta says, it might be better to get the sweet tooth removed? :)
I find stevia has an aftertaste. I have a container of them but only use them up in strong tasting drinks that'll mask it.

I'm lucky Ed I'm not a sweet or cake person as I'm getting older my blood sugars are hard to keep on a level plain I only use one sweetener in tea or coffee
I've heard that Stevia drops have the least taste. But like Ed says...best to get rid of the sweet tooth...;-)
Took me ages to get used to green tea, but I found that if you use hot water instead of boiling water, it is much more palatable.
I love green tea, but admit it is a bit of an acquired taste.. Persevere without adding any sweetener , you will get to like it. Cold green tea is great with a shot of vodka in it and ice.
I drink green tea strawberry cupcake, it's lovely, never drank green tea regular, if you could shop around for the flavoured green tea maybe it would help
The whole point of green tea (and other specialised teas) is that it is drunk unsweetened. If I drink anything other than Indian tea the only thing I might add is a slice of lemon, like Russian tea.
If it's bitter maybe you are allowing it to steep for too long. Take the tea bag out sooner and persevere. You will get used to it.
I read an article a few months back by someone who had done research that if you are making ordinary tea with a tea bag in a mug the optimum brewing time is a mere 25 seconds. This makes a refreshing cup of tea without the overpowering taste of tannin, nor does it stain the mug. I have tried it and it works. I now time my tea as I would a boiled egg - to perfection.
Jackdaw is correct.
I drink Earl Grey, (with no milk or sugar) and the tea bag barely hits the cup before it is out again. Very refreshing.
I draw the line at Earl Grey. Have only ever tasted it once in my life. Vile stuff, like drinking perfume.
And I've read that in order to get the health benefits of ordinary tea, it needs to be steeped for a number of minutes.

I'd find 7 minutes too long, yet I leave herbal bags in.
