My daughter has had, what she thought was Vertigo. She ( remember she is a Forensic Dr. so the last to seek advice)finally, after pressure from all of us, has seen an ENT , he said her ears are fine, but has sent her to have a Brain scan, now.....I am concerned. His reasoning was to discount any problem there, if she has another "attack" . Waddya fink ?

This is just my personal experience, but when I had vertigo and other symptoms I was sent for a brain scan to rule out, if I remember rightly, an Acoustic Neuroma, which I believe is a benign brain tumour. The brain scan was fine and I was later diagnosed with Menieres Disease. I hope she gets some answers soon, vertigo is a very unpleasant thing to have.
Sam...I rarely have anything to offer on medical matters but a friend is going through this just now....

She thought it was vertigo but a scan (just to be sure) revealed something in her head that's been there since birth and has grown a little...Sqad may know, I can't recall what it is exactly....

Not life threatening, not cancer and she's been give the option of having it removed or living a long life with it though the occasional dizziness may worsen....she's having it removed any day now......

Of course you're concerned....we were when L was waiting for the scan but there are so many things it can be try not to dwell on the bad things.....difficult I know.....best wishes.....Gx
It's a common way of discounting serious conditions that could be causing the symptoms. Similar to Eve, I had one (nothing serious found) and also was diagnosed with Meniere's.

Thanks Eve and gness. I will keep you updated. Nevertheless, it's worrying. And knowing her she will take her time to get it done.
Brain scan sqad - - - - - Sqad doesnt need one - I am sure his brain is present - ter-daaah !

// His reasoning was to discount any problem there, if she has another "attack"//
the surgeon is truthing

Eve is also correct - he wants to exclude a neurinoma which is not high on the list to start

and good luck with the scan

...and, don't forget, vertigo is not a disease....just a name for the symptom when you have intense spinning sensation often so bad it makes you vomit (over a period of some hours, sometimes!).
my dad had exactly the same as gness's friend - vertigo which a brain scan revealed he had some deposits inside his skull (calcium? bony spurs?) that had probably been inside his head forever (according to the dr) he takes tablets every day and has about 3-4 attacks a year
"I am concerned. His reasoning was to discount any problem there, if she has another "attack" . Waddya fink ?"

I agree totally with his reasoning and also the post by PP, the scan just "guilds the Lily", "leaves no stone unturned" and rarely gives a diagnosis that wasn't apparent before the scan.
It makes a patient feel that "everything" has been done.

Well thanks Sqad and everyone. I feel a bit easier now, and will keep you updated. She berates me for asking or searching on Dr.Google, so have told Mr. Sam your opinions and we shall keep it to ourselves.
