Anyone on this medication - if so what's your experience ?

Iv'e been given it for Hypertension - the consultant says i should have a blood test done in a few weeks time after starting it to see if it is having an adverse effect .

I know that all medication have side effects - but what would be the possible effects that requires me to have a blood test done after a few weeks after starting this medication ?

Probably to see if it's affecting your kidneys
Spironolactone (Aldactone). is an old diuretic......one of the oldest which has surfaced once again.
The blood test will be to test the salt and potassium levels which can be affected by this drug.

LOL.....I first encountered Aldactone in 1959.........other diuretics came, all had problems and now Aldactone has had a resurgence and regained a prominent place in the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure.
Fear not.
