Long Covid

I wonder if long Covid actually exists in its own right or whether it differs from Post viral syndrome, Chronic fatigue syndrome, etc etc that have been recognised for years. I am not denying it exists, just wondering. Are there any medics around that can answer this.

You make a good point, Pat.
It's like the flu, it can leave you exhausted for a long time, cause other infections etc.
I think you could be right but wait until a medical person like sqad comes a long.

I did see a scientist on tv quite a long time ago and he said long covid might be post viral syndrome but they didn't really know.

I know someone who claims she has long Covid after having been Covid positive in a test, but not really showing many symptoms of Covid. This seems very odd to me!

My opinion?

Post viral syndromes do exist, but like many mental disorders, such as ADHD and Autism many people have jumped on the band wagon , diagnosed themselves and have made these mental disorders the most over-diagnosed conditions of modern medicine.

In my opinion.

Post viral Syndrome and the other above mentioned conditions do exist.

Does it really matter as the diagnosis and treatment are the same?

This isnt an answer to your question but a friend of mine definitely had Covid in March 2020, classic symptoms, took her some time to recover to anything like 'normal'. However, she has been left with exhaustion and heart problems (erratic and extra beats),
she sees a cardiologist who is hopeful she will eventually return to her previous active, fit self. He is convinced this is Longcovid and has seen many similar cases recently.

Thanks everybody. Sqad, I'm in complete agreement with you about the bandwagon. And as you say it really doesn't matter if it's a separate syndrome or not. The treatment will be the same.
