i was told that for my future job that i want to do, i am unweighted. for months now i have been trying everything, but i just cant put the weight on, but when i do put some on, it justs falls off!!

i really want this job very much and will try anything. i am not unhealthy and i dont have any problems with food. i dont feel underweight but if gaining some kgs will get me my job that i want,i have to do it.

ive tried eating more calories, drinks, etc but nothing seems to work. i also have to be fit, but i cant exercise because i will just lose weight or i'll just go back to the weight i am now.

if someone can give me some suggestions, that would be great!

thanks

It would help if you say what the job is. By the way exercising will not make you lose weight. Exercising will improve your appetite and correct exercise will build up muscle which is heavier than fat.

im trying to get in the Royal Navy. ive done all the written tests just got stuck on the medical because of my weight
Try doing some weights to build up muscle as Gef says muscle is heavier than fat. If you can't get to a gym, invest in some weights and a fit ball to use at home. If youre stuck for what exercises to do I highly reccommend the body doctor book. Also as its the navy Im guessing you need to be fit and healthy, so overeating is not an ideal solution. Good luck!
You have to get in the Gym as mentioned above and start eating lots of protien (2 grammes per kilo of body weight to gain muscle, that's a lot, chicken, fish etc, lots' of carbs for energy, lots of fruit and veg. I suspect you don't eat anything like enough, the training will improve your appetite. Believe me 99% of the population would give there eye teeth to have your "problem"
yeah! including me! but that doesn't help you ;o). Totally agree with going to the gym, any qualified gym instructor will be able to tell you the right things to do in order to gain bulk, you might also want to consult a dietician aswell if you're unsure of what foods you should be eating. You want to gain weight in a controlled manner, not by eating crap. I have the exact opposite problem, so come the new year I'll try and transfer mine to yours ;o)

thanks for that everyone. the amount of people that wants to give me their weight is unbelieveable! lol

i would really love to join a gym, as u said there are people that can help there. the thing is, i live in the middle of the french countryside and there is nothing such as a gym here. not even a shop down the road. the nearest gym is MILES away and i have no way of getting there.

i do not eat junk food. i cant stand Mac Donalds or places like that. (even if i wanted to eat in those places, i would have to travel more than an hour to get there).

I have never been a big eater and when my mum was my age (19) she was exactly the same; slim, average height, doesnt have to eat much to be full etc.

Englishbird, send me everything that u would normally eat, so u can diet and i can gain weight. :)

It really gets me down when i see people starving themselves to death because they want to be slimmer. people ask me what my secret is, and they dont believe me when i say i dont have one and i just eat normally and do abit of exercise.

i need to at least gain 6/7 kgs and i have about 6 months to gain it in.

lol, yeah, that could work, we'll send each other food parcels with what you've got to eat that week! Although think it might cost me a bit more in postage!! lol.

If you're on your own to do this, the main rules are any excercise you do should be more like weight training than Cardio-vascular, so no long runs, then you will burn off calories, but more lifting and toning, don't start off too heavy or you'll damage yourself, build the weight up gradually.

Have a search around for some websites like this if you need support;

I know it says weight loss, but the same experts will have the knowledge to help weight gain aswell.

Food wise, I would say Carbs, bread, rice, pasta, with chicken, beef. etc But if you don't eat a lot anyway, you may struggle with the quantity. You can also fit in milkshakes or high calorie drinks, but in between meals, you have to keep your meals up aswell.

See, my french lifestyle of bread cheese and red wine, works wonders for keeping the weight up!!

Seriously though, i've just been on holiday with a group of friends and it was all inclusive, i've sat with the same four people for every single meal, I've eaten less than them and better than them at every single meal and i'm still the one that's put on the most weight over the week. Genetics has a lot to answer for!!
