A Question To All Who Are Taking Sertraline Or Other Similar Drugs.
9 Answers
I am interested to get the opinions of Sertraline users regarding taking other "over the counter "pills and potions from Heath Food type outlets. I have been on 150 m of sertraline since about August 2021 having had my dose increased from the initial 50m in April 2021. I have always taken Cod Liver Oil tabs. CB D oil drops Vitamin D and so on but am wondering if these "health" will have an adverse effect. Or even NO effect at all on me whilst I'm on Sertraline., Any thoughts folks??? Pos or Neg Ps I am 76 and have been diagnosed with some form of "long Covid" since I had Covid last October when I ended up with Anxiety Suicidal feelings Panic attacks and Depression I seem to be stuck with this nonsense at the moment. Mixing sertraline with herbal remedies and supplements
Do not take St John's wort, the herbal remedy for depression, while you're being treated with sertraline as this will increase your risk of side effects.
There's very little information about taking other herbal remedies and supplements with sertraline. It's not possible to say whether they are safe to take together. They're not tested in the same way as pharmacy and prescription medicines.

OH ***!! I just answered my question with a few comments and then, by mistake, deleted it. Yes this is a proper question why on Earth would it not be? Thanks for the replies and yes I was warned about St Johns Wart at the outset. Yes Sertraline is VERY helpful. It's helpful also that there is scope to increase the dose from 50 to 200 mg . Seems I'll be taking it for the rest of my "innings"!! Chris
There are no interactions between sertraline and either vitamin d or cod liver oil. Source...Google :) Dnt believe Google...
Yes is the general answer
Drug action is varied by the other stuff you put in the pill (formulation)
and it is a small jump to say, other stuff outside the pill
Glucose absorption ( kinda drug) is varied by the amount of fibre
Prof Paul Turner of Barts was big on this fifty y ago - digoxin was reformulated with insoluble calcium instead of glucose ( kind of) and everyone went wobbly. and he became Famous Paul Turner
I agree - - - collect the data and conclude
