No worries, I posted it less than 10 minutes before you replied :)
Five years ago, I probably wouldn't have been so scared of the thought of me getting ill and having to rely on 'the system'. I was hospitalised a few years ago with a slipped disc (I think there are posts on here from when that happened) and had informed Social Services six weeks prior to tell them that I was struggling and could no longer provide the care my OH required. To cut a very long story short, as I'm aware that this story has nothing to do with this topic, Social Services did nothing to help and my OH was left for 72 hours without any care. All she had was the bottles of water/cordial and junk food that I had left on the bed for her, and urine bottles by the side of the bed. The first thing the nurse said to me in hospital was, "Why have you not organised care for your partner whilst you are here?" - that's right, they had a go at me. I think most of my tears were for my OH and not the excruciating pain I was in with my back.
ILA, I hope you feel better soon :)
