Contraception

What do people reccomend?? I started having the depo injection about 5 years ago. My nurse has told me that this is the best contraception for me as I'm young and don't have plans to have kids for a while and I've been with the same partner. However I have noticed that I'm puting on more and more weight each year, and now I have also lost interest in sex I think I want it but something switches inside and I loose my temper and go in a mood when it comes to it which i know is unfair to my partner I have a friend who has been on the injection for about the same amount of time as me and said she has gone off sex too. What other contraception do people reccomend and do people believe it is the injection that makes me feel this way? I would like to stay on the injection if poss as I know its safe as far as getting pregnant goes, so is there anything I can take or do to boost sex drive

My mate gets pregnant from a look! and depo is her only way of not... however, i put on a lot ofd weight from it, allegedly, I'm sure I put on weight from the amount of pies I ate too, but hindsight would suggest that depo was a factor! I'm not allowed to have it anymore because of skin problems, my derm took me off it. I'm now on the Evra patch, because I'm crap at remembering to take pills. I (just about) remember to change it once a week. Although it's a bit irritating, and for the 'larger' lady, you have to be careful where you stick it ... so to speak! ... (if you're heavy around the hips, stick it about where your ovaries are for it to work, and change sides every week) ... if you have a tendancy to put on weight with contraceptives, you need to look at ones that are male based hormone contraceptives such as Jasmine and Dianete. Speak to your doctor - if he or she is rubbish, talk to your local family planning clinic.
All hormonal contraceptives can cause loss of libido. It varies person-to-person, of course; just like some people put on wieght on Depo, others lose it.
If you're looking for a long-term, non-hormonal option, speak to your family planning association about getting an IUD fitted. You're talking about 5 years protection, though they can cause heavier periods and need checked for placement occasionally.
To boost your sex drive? Masturbation works. Bring yourself to orgasm every night, and think about sex more often (e.g all the time!). Your body will soon get used to it and you'll find that going without an orgasm for a day starts to drive you up the wall... ;)
