Is it just me who thinks men should be men and not go in for the moisturising cream/waxing/perfume?I know alot of men who are your average slob.Never taking care of their appearence but I think that is how a man should be.Anyone agree?

Just to explain I changed my username because my last username had my real name in it and I didn't want everyone to know my name because it is an unusual one and someone I know might realise who I was from it.My girlfriend signed in with this username 3 days ago but said you all thought she was me so isn't bothering anymore so I am now using this username. If she didn't want people to think she was me than she shouldn't have used the username prettyruskie. Anyway back to the question.

You don't have to wax and moisturise but men should wash frequently - a lot more frequently than they do. We have to share this planet with you stinkers you know. :-))

But that ad for Lynx is misleading - when it ways spray more - it doesn't mean the whole can at the once - some of us like to breath air!!!

I wonder who gives a sh1t about your 'username'...
Exactly what I was thinking purpose.

I wouldn't want my boyfreind to wax coss that's just wrong!! But he does use moisturiser (not all the time) and he uses men's perfume (which I buy for him) and there is nothing wrong with that. I like that he uses moisturiser cos he's all soft. i wouldn't want him to have crusty dry skin, he wouldn't be strokeable!! I think a bit of tlc to their bodies is good but I definately wouldn't want somebody who took longer than me to get ready! Name that comes to mind is Gavin Henson. What a twirp, he should just be a girl!!!

Probobly no one but I didn't want people to think it was still my girlfriend.I mean they can probobly tell anyway because I answer back but just incase. I agree men should wash reguarly but I think men wearing moisurising cream is soooo wrong and waxing is just about the limit.Actually male perfume is the worst it should be banned. My Dad would NEVER use men's perfume. He won't even wash his hair with shampoo because he says that is ladies and uses soap instead.
I believe men and women should be free to enjoy a lifestyle of their choice without fashion fascists dictating the rights and wrongs of their choices.
i think men should take appearance in their selves, moisturising is fine, but waxing is a bit OTT it would be worng
Well that is rather profound.Changed my username back (don't want girlfriend knowing my password).Drusilla you are right. But waxing?
In 3 bits because this poxy site is playing up again. I completely disagree. I admit that wearing make up is going a bit far, but there is nothing wrong with making an effort with your appearance.
Personally I dont go in for waxing because I dont really need to, but some men do need to and some just want smooth skin. I see nothing wrong with me applying moisturiser every day as this stops my dry skin from flaking off when I am on the tube, and a dash of aftershave is always better than a waft of BO.
I shower, moisturise and scent myself every day and if you dont like what I do then stay away. As you say, there are plenty of neanderthals out there who are happy to slob around and not wash, and you are most welcome to your pick of those.

I agree Octavius.

And washing your hair with soap isn't the best thing to do (in fact it is wrong).

Why shouldn't men take pride in their appearance? it's this kind of stereotyping that should have gone down witht he ark.

i think men should do as they please and moisturise if they wish...what if a man has dry facial skin like women get?he has to moisturise doesnt he? simple as
Obviously if a man has hard and sore skin then he must use moisuriser I just don't like men use moisturiser reguarly or wax because they don't like the hair.Still it is better than a stink of sweat and pieces of food in a beard. The perfect man should be bclen and tidy but not into waxing, aftershave and moisturisin reguarly. Then again many women disagree so the men that do it are safe to do it.

I wax my ex husbands back because he grows two, mutant like wings from his ribcage and is too embarrassed to trust their removal to anyone else.

It's worth remembering that it is only a recent historical development that women have taking the pre-eminent role in fashion and grooming.

Even ancient warrior cultures like the Celts, Vikings and native American tribes expected elaborate grooming rituals from their men. It's only since the mid 1800's that men have stopped wearing wigs, powder and rouge.

Surely using moisturiser is a preventative method? what is the point in saying a man should shut the stable door after the horse has bolted?

My husband uses moisturiser..he is outside the majority of the time and can get a bit weather beaten. He especially uses quite a lot of cream on his hands ~ I wouldn't want him touching me with rough hands!

I still don't see why it is inferred that women should take care of themselves & men shouldn't. They can get rid of hair if they want in the exact same way we can.

I hasten to add my ex husbands wings are hair growths, not real wings ala X Men.
O.K arguments accepted.If I was streight I would prefer a tall,rugged,messy slob though.

Good points Drusilla!

Blimey..during the Stone Age you would be hard pushed to tell the difference between men & women unless they were naked ;o)

I also remember during the 70's my mum being an avid 'Cosmopolitan' reader ~ full of photos of women with hairy armpits & legs.

I think we did realise but a funny image all the same.I have to go now I have an exam.See You.
