One blood shot eye

I woke up this morning with one very blood shot eye. It doesn't hurt and isn't pouring with tears.

Could this be the first signs of conjunctivitis??

Mr Jules had this recently and couldn't remember getting anything in his eye, however he went to the Drs who told him that it would get better on it its own within a week which it did, but if you are worried or unsure about it then it might be best to get it checked out. BTW whenever I have had conjunctivitis it has never been preceded by being bloodshot and haven't heard of this as a first sign so hopefully not that.

I had this just after new year, saw my optician and was advised to see if it got better and to use comfort drops and keep my contact lenses out til it got better which it did.

The bloodshot bit lasted just under a week but it left my eyes quite dry and irritated so couldn't wear my lenses for a while.

As said above, I used to get conjunctivitis when I first wre lenses about 14 years ago and it didn't start with a bloodshot eye.

Same happened to me 2 weeks ago. I got some drops from the chemist. Spooky or what.

Did you sneeze??? Seriously I did that once and because I sneezed so hard it made my eye bloodshot! then it just went

My son woke up with a bloodshot eye. But it was gone within a couple of days with no problems. I think it was a burst blood vessel, perhaps from sneezing like Djerba says. So long as its not sore, or doesnt get worse, it should get better on its own.

Hi, I always get bloodshot eyes just before I get conjunctivitis, I usually ask the chemists for drops for conjunctivitis and it clears up (I wear contact lenses so I always wear my specs until it's clear) :-((

I don't wear glasses or contact lenses, but from the answers i'll just assume that it will clear up, obviously if it gets worse i'll visit the doctor.

bacterial conjuntivitus would normally be presented with a sticky eye!!

I sometimes get that from not having enough sleep, eyedrops normally sort it out (or a decent nights sleep!)
