If I was advised by my optician to wear glasses, but never wore them, what would be the effect on my eyes?

obviously not a positive one , you have been advised to wear them , your eyes will deteriate without them , why you dont want to wear them
contact lenses are avail
The worst effect is that you could go blind.
i have 2 pairs of glasses, although they are the lowest prescription available i dont wear them ever.
I keep starting off by wearing them an hour or so a day, im meant to wear them all the time.
But I just dont! They irritate me alot, and they wont give me lenses because well, they said it wasnt bad enough!
You will also get bad headaches and possible wrinkles round your eyes as you will be constantly squinting to see things clearly
Why do your glasses irritate you?

15 years ago I got a pair of glasses and like you didn't wear them. Mainly because they gave me a headache as they were heavy and I just didn't like wearing them. But last year I finally decided to go to the opticians again because I couldn't read anything on the tv in small print, I was always squinting when using the pc and people would tell me to stop frowning which I did when I walked outside because I was straining my eyes to see. Sometimes my other half would ask me if I saw the cyclis or pedestrian when I was driving and I didn't so I knew it was time to go to the optician. I now wear glasses when I drive, when I use the pc and when I watch tv. I was told I didn't have to wear them 24/7 so when I get home and not doing any of the above things I don't wear them. By not wearing the ones I was given 15 years ago my eye muscles deteriorated because they had to work so much harder for me to see. I now wear rimless which weigh nothing and sometimes I forget I'm wearing glasses.
Maybe you need to try a different frame which won't irritate you
Contrary to popular belief, not wearing prescribed glasses will not adversly effect your eyes. All that will happen is that you will get headaches, wrinkles from squinting (as has already been said).

Glasses are NOT a cure, if you think of your eye as a telescope that will not focus, glasses provide an extra lense so that it can focus properly and that is all they do.

Having said all this, why would you not want to be able to see more clearly? Are contact lenses an option for you?
I did the same and now 10 years on my eyes are a lot worst. My sister however who wore hers has not had any problems. Put them specs on or get contacts!
