Are you drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids before you go to bed? Dehydration will cause headaches.

Or eating enough? Low blood sugars can also cause headaches.

Do you have a window open in your bedroom? Good ventilation may help.

It could be connected to the shoulder pain - try taking ibuprofen or similar at bedtime and see what happens.
Hi
I used to wake every morning with terrible headaches which went up the side of my face between my head and my jaw.

I eventually linked it to tooth grinding in my sleep which i did not know I was doing. Have you been to the dentist recently? If not, i would suggest a trip to see if this may be your problem. My dentist was able to tell immediately that this was my problem
It could just be something simple like the position of your head while sleeping or the pillow you use. I use a posture pillow & it`s great.

Thanks for all those that wrote offering advise to me, but funnily enough as easy as it came it went just as easily, so I am still none the wiser!. And no it definately was not an alcohol induced headache as I have given up drinking. I think it was the wife beating me in my sleep, LOL.
Thanks again folks.
