I have had cystitis for the last couple of days, I have recently required a new boyfriend so I think you can guess what has caused it!! I have taken 5 of the sachets they recommend and although the irritation has calmed down, and it doesnt hurt as much to pee, I still dont feel right. I am also off work because I cannot stand to be sat at my desk all day while feeling like this! Very strangely yesterday as well, I had a severe pain in my side and I thought I was going to faint and then I was sick (only bile as I hadnt eaten anything) and I felt better, so I dont know what caused that. So I take it I should go to the docs??

Also, something I dont want to particularly have to ask my doctor because going is embarrassing enough, how long should I wait before I have sex again? I know it is what caused my problem in the first place, but I do not want this to re-occur!!!

Thanks in advance all!! xx

You are possibly right about the cause, but you should see a doctor if the problem lasts for more then a few days if only to make sure that infection is not the problem, especially as you have had pain and sickness as well.
when I had it I called NHS and they said take sachets if problem persists for more than 2 days go see a doctor. It could be that you have a water infection that needs to be treated. To prevent it happening again always make sure your boyfriend is clean down there before you have sex and it is always best to go for a wee after sex to clear the tubes out. I hope you feel better soon it is a horrible feeling. I had myself in tears when I couldnt sleep because it feels like you're going to pee yourself if you relax
This isn't an old wives tale, get some cranberry juice or some cranberry capsules from the health food shop, it helps to stop the bacteria sticking to you're urethra. I would advise going to the doctor or well woman clinic, it might be something else, so you need to get checked out.
If you take the cranberry stuff, it can also help stop it happening again.
You might need antibiotics to get rid of the infection, as might your boyfriend, otherwise he'll just keep reinfecting you.
I'm not suggesting he's got anything but it would merit getting checked, some of the stuff without symptoms can have quite serious consequences
Get well soon
Drink cranberry juice, lemon barley water and lots of ordinary water. When you have sex again use a lubricant to avoid any irritation. It's also a good idea to pee after sex and wash yourself. Good luck.
