mini pill

i was on the combined pill but because i smoke (sorry, i know "bad habit" but only 6 aday) and i,m over 35, i was given the mini pill. after a year and so many side affects my doc has put me back on the combined pill. he only did this because i don,t smoke that much.
does any women my age take the combined pill. smoke and have no problems?
