A colleague has been diagnosed with 2 fairly large ovarian cysts. Is this cancer?

No. Whilst it is probably very scary for the person concerned, plenty of people have ovarian cysts and not many are cancerous.
I had ovarian cysts when I was 17,I had two large ones and clusters of smaller ones.I was booked in to have them surgically removed but they actually disappeared on their own before the op (thankfully). My older sister suffered far worse than I did with them and had them several times, once when she was pregnant. Hers burst so she required emergency surgery and this unfortunately led to both ovaries being removed. This in turn caused early menopause and she has been on HRT now for several years(from the age of 36).I hope your colleague manages to get this sorted out without the need for surgery.
Hiya sunflower,
i have polycystic overies and iv had to have abdom surgery to drain my cysts they got 2, 9 and half cm's but i still have them where they were not removed and im on hrt injections to keep them at bay, they are not nice things to have i found out i had them at 28 and iv been told its very unlikely to have children because of these.
I had a huge cyst (15x15 after they had drained it) removed in April and it was completely benign. Pains back again so waiting for a scan so a bit concerend its back again as they didn't remove ovary even though they had told me before surgery they would need to
