i have 2 resurfaced hips, one is 3 years old and one is 4 years old. for younger, more active people it is the absolute best method as it has a far, far less chance of dislocating and allows a more normal life. it does however depend on the state of your own ball and socket joint and is not suitable for everyone irrespective of age. you need to google up 'birmingham hips' which is what they're known as and find out the difference between resurfacing and total hip replacement, and also look on healthboards.com on their 'knee and hip' section where you will get a lot of information and be able to ask questions from people who have had it done.
as to your jazz, sorry i can't answer that. i was told not to go jogging as it's the impact that can cause problems, but i believe people go snowboarding, skiing, riding, etc., so i wouldn't think jazz dancing is much of a problem. maybe you need to ask your surgeon or specialist nurse.
best of luck.
