how much does it cost for a root filling in the dentist? any ideas?

hello, don't know about national health dentist, I have got to have one done by private dentist and that is �150, good money eh, impossible to find national health one where I live, good luck,Ray

on the NHS the root filling itself would be an NHS band 2 charge of �43.60, however alot of teeth requiring root canal fillings are quite broken down and require some kind of lab. made restoration such as a crown/inlay/onlay, this would bring the total charge to �194.
However depending on the tooth and/or reason the root filling is required a crown may not be necessary.
Private root filling somewhere in the region of �150-�400
Private specialist endontists would typically charge between �400-�600 for a root filling, they have microscopes, specialist endoontic instruments and because they pretty much do endoontics (root fillings) all day much higher success rates.
Its worth noting that the private prices will vary according to the post code, types of materials used, time spent, complexity etc
