still not eating
Thats me not Amelia, before you panic!
Amelia is 3 weeks old today and i still have no appetitie.
At first i thought it was because id just given birth and had lots to do so was missing out on eating.
Now i find i get through the day eating only because i have to, like yesterday i ate when my son did at breakfast (2 slices of toast) and then at lunch i had half a bag of crisps.
He had his eve meal and once he was finally asleep at 10pm i cooked some soup. I never even ate it though, not one bit.
The midwife last week said i have to eat or i will be ill but i cant force myself. Even junk food i nibble at and dont eat hardly any of it.
Anyone else been like this? and how did you overcome it?

What you are describing sounds like the beginning of post natal depression redcrx, thats how it started with me after I had my son.I didn't even notice there was anything wrong until it came to a head when my son was 4 months old.I lost a huge amount of weight through not eating and went from 10st during the pregnancy to 7st just 4 months after the birth.
I would speak to your GP about it before you are too weak to cope as I was.

Hi Red,
Hormones might be playing up a bit with you and perhaps you're worrying about not eating is making you lose your appitite! Vicious cycle!
What about taking Build up or Complan shakes just to make sure your get your RDA of nutrience and build up your appetite with light bites!
Try not to worry, but don't let it get worse, definatly speak to your midwife or health visitor about it!

Hello redcrx sweetie , sorry to hear you have lost your appetite , I know it's easy to say , but try to eat little and often , you need to force yourself , you need the food for energy resources to look after your little ones , but also to keep yourself going without getting ill. As andrea says , it could be the hormone change after delivery , and it may not hurt to have a word with either your health visitor or your gp , they may be able to give you something to stimulate your appetite . Menwhile , think of foods with a strong look or taste that usually tempts you , and see if you fancy a little of that . Are you getting out and about , and doing a few tthings for yourself leisure wise honey , I expect you find this difficult with 2 children , but you don't want to forget to get a bit of you-time . ((( hug )))

Hi all, thanks for you answers.
I know i have to eat for my own wellbeing and so i have the energy to look after a newborn and a lively toddler but nothing gets my tastbuds going.
Friday i atehalf a bowl of cereal and half a sandwich. We then went to my mother in laws for weekend and after not eating all day saturday she made me a roast dinner which i ate all of in the eve. Sunday i managed a bacon sarnie and an egg in morning and then half a sandwich in the afternoon.
So i am getting a bit better, i suppose it will just take time.

Have you tried nibbling at dried fruit and nuts? They're high in energy and you don't need to have lots.
For the first week after Emilia was born I barely ate, but that was more to do with hospital food being crap and then I think I had just got into habit of not eating and being too busy to make anything to eat. I found it helped to buy loads of fruit and even now am still in the habit of grabbing fruit throughout the day but now have an evening meal with hubby aswell. It was easier for me to eat a banana or a small apple of a handful of grapes or raisins than going to the "effort" (lol) of making a bit of toast or a sandwich.
