I have had a terrible salty taste in my mouth for months now. I do not take any medications and am not dehydrated. I suspect it could be a symptom of an allergy but can't find any where that this could be the case. Does anyone have any ideas?

Would suggest that you see your GP, but the following come to mind.
1) Post nasal drip(catarrh)
2) Dehydration....diarrhoea, alcohol excess.
3) drug therapy...are you on any drugs?
Can't think of any others as these are the common ones. I am sure there are rarer causes.
Have you had a cold recently or cried a lot? Or do you have any bleeding gums or nosebleeds?

How much proper fluid do you drink not including caffine, slcohol, fizzy drinks etc...?

|Could be a vitamin deficiency eg zinc or b12.
Primary Zinc deficiency is almost unheard of in the developed Western World. Very rarely it can be associated with and secondary to, a debilitating illness or nutritional disorder which doesn't sound like your situation.
Please be careful with buying supplements of B12 before having a blood test to ascertain that you are B12 deficient.
