They do say that nits are more prone to be on clean heads so maybe washing her hair too frequently is not a good idea.

Even try one of those leave in conditioners. Put it on her head then wrap a towel around it and leave it for a good hour.
warm the towel first over a radiator that will help the conditioner work better. Then wash it out
you can get spray leave-in ones as well, that might help keep the remaining ones at bay throughout the day.
good luck :)

really? i was worried about her hair falling out, sounds silly but ive used that much over the past year, its not funny!! ok well ive got loads of conditioner anyway! ( i have very long hair lol) but ill get some leave in conditioner aswell, so shall i treat it as normal then use conditioner? or just use the conditioner?
you have to keep at em, every day to break the life cycle!Condition and comb thoroughly every day. I did this with my son and they were gone in about 10 days! I have tried all the lotions and they simply dont work!
I actually got my money back from the last lost cause i had paid a tenner and it didnt work!

there are medicated shampoos which are tar based and are designed to eradicate flaky scalp and other skin conditions on the scalp, try one of these as they are quite sticky and the eggs will stick to the shampoo as it is being washed out ( this was recommended by a GP and pharmacist to my mum who is a teacher in a inner city school which regularly gets infestations of nits)
I would just stick to washing her hair as normal and then put on the conditioner, leave it for a while, then comb it out.
Do this everyday for about a week and see how you get on.
I would stop using the lotions, i have a relative who works in boots and she always says conditioner is better for the hair and for the lice.

It really is as simple as breaking the life cycle onlyme. Trust ,me, im an expert on this one lol My eldest son had them every other week!
Forget the lotions, they are a con, they may kill lice but they dont get the eggs which are the important bits! If you keep on combing as they hatch then they wont get chance to lay more eggs and so eventually they will die off and no more eggs!
Good luck.

Well I guess you don't need to wash her hair with shampoo everyday unless her hair gets dirty quickly. If you do wash it with shampoo eveyday then make sure you have a frequent use one or a child friendly one. Even use baby Shampoo.
The main thing is to make sure that you use conditioner on her eveyday, and leave it on for as long as possible and then comb it out. Then obviously wash out the remainder of the conditioner once you have finished combing all the nits and eggs out.

Hi
I sympathise with you onlyme26, my daughter's 11 and has had headlice loads in the last 4 years. Our school started selling the 'nitty gritty comb'. I don't know whether you've tried it but it's far better than any other combs I've used. It has really long teeth and grooves in each tooth that trap the eggs as well as the lice. It is more expensive but worth it. Most chemists sell it now.

Sorry if you knew about it already, but just thought I'd mention it.
