Hi, I run three miles daily and have felt pain in my left achilles area. This has culminated in a small lump approximately 4" up my heel. I could not walk for for approx 6 days (limping) and I have been informed it is a damaged plantaris tendon. I fear it may be more serious. I have stopped running and now resting. Has anyone heard of anything similar and what is the cure time or my options, obviously rest is the first stage. But now I fear it could be a long job. Cheers

denn....never had such an injury BUT, you need to know whether or not it is a plantaris tendon injury OR a ruptured Achilles tendon and this can only be done by MRI scan

Plantaris tendon rupture will mean weeks of physiotherapy.
Achilles tendon rupture gives you the option of surgery.

It sounds like the former, but only an educated guess.

Good luck

thanks for the answer sqad, does it necessarily have to be a rupture though, surely a strain could have the same effect, I would have thought a rupture would not allow me to walk after a week of rest, but good advice
