Quick cold remedy

I woke up this morning with a thick head, a heavy chest and a throat which is grating.

In the last hour, my left ear has become really painful and in fact is now so bunged up, I can't hear a damn thing out of it.

Really don't want to take up a doctor's time (I always think doctors are like lawyers, best to have as little to do with them as possible!), can anyone suggest an over the counter remedy that might deal with these symptoms so I can actually get through the massive job I have to deal with over the next two days.

(Oh on the good side, I only had half a cigarette this morning. It made me feel so ill I have not/am not having another one).

Try Day Nurse and Night Nurse - they are good cold remedies - if they dont work go to the doc - feel better soon
The wont help the ear though - you may have to see a doc if that continues
BM....this will cost yer......;-)

Go to the chemist:

1) Ibuprofen (or Paracetamol) 600mgms three times a day.
2) Sinex Nasal Spray to be used every 4 hours.

Good luck.
having said all that - ignore it ^^^^^
peri...no! your answer is as good as mine...................but not better:-)
and - hot chocolate (with cream) and with a tot of brandy for when you're really feeling sorry for yourself. It won't alleviate any symptoms, but it will make you feel a little bit better.
well of course not - i know my place .................

Thank you chaps.

Looks like a trip to the shops. Just hope the ear sorts itself out cos there is only one thing worse than hearing a Judge shouting at you and that is NOT hearing him shout at you!!!!
I am noticing a slight obsession with cream salla - does your milkman give you one every morning ?
BM...when you have used the nasal spray, close your mouth, nip your nose tightly and blow down your nose to make your ears crack.
I don't have a milkman peri - so I don't get any !!

I get plenty from the local Baker though.

That sounds as if it could be painful Sqad but will do. Nose is not actually bunged up, it all appears to be in my head and my ear! I used to get ear infections a lot when I was little, just hope I haven't got one now!
A large Gin and Night Nurse is quite exciting .......
Blackcurrant Lemsip or Beecham's similar flavours also ginger tea.

Only problem is, I now feel really dizzy so I don't feel able to drive to the shops and I sure as hell ain't walking in this!
Develop a toothache... Knocks the edge right off that cold you've described in my experience... :-/
