suddenly stopping drinking

a member of my family wants to stop drinking after nearly 3 years theyve been drinking just over a bottle of vodka every day what are the risks of just stopping all together this person is 65 years old.looking for help.thanks

go to her GP.......
It's very dangerous just to stop as the body as become dependant on the drink.
Needs to be done under supervision of a doctor by planned detox.
It's good the person has decided to stop but it has to be done gradual. First port of call is their doctor
She will need to have Liver Function Tests to first determine the level of damage sustained by years of heavy drinking. She really should consult her GP.
