no it woud not be.
there is no compelling evidence that taking a child to a dentist improves their oral health anyway. Good dental hygeine can be taught at home by the parents. You don't need to see a dentist to tell you how to brush your teeth

but what if they get a rotting tooth or something, and they haven't got a dentist to take them to to get it removed?

She is doing well if she has gotten to 12 and hasn't had toothache yet. Her tooth brushing must be both good and regular and therefore I guess it hasn't been an issue - Having perfectly straight teeth is not really a health issue. In our kids school i think they get 2 dental checks at school over 7 years of primary, but no treatment, just a letter to parents. Presumably if there are issues they are referred to a dentist. I don't know because no issues with my two and we go to the dentist anyway every 6 months.

i don't know of a dentist at our school, there isn't even a nurse, jsut some teachers and office workers who are first aiders.

she's home-schooled anyway, so if there was still dentists at school, it wouldnt make a difference to her.
I started taking my son to the Clinic Dentist from the age of 3 - then when he was 12 he transferred to my dentist. He is now 20 and has beautiful teeth with not a filling in sight.
Me too Den....took my daughter from the age of about 4......she has no fillings but wore a brace for a while when she was 12.....lovely teeth.
Hiya craft - yep you cannot put a price on good teeth and a lovely smile. Also the fear of dentists is less if you start them going young.

I think we should have a nurse though, when i suddenly became ill (shivering, feeling sick and dizzy) at a lunchime just before christmass holidays, first of all i was put in a classroom which was freezing cold, then i sat in the office, finally they decided i was actually ill and phoned home, at no point was i checked over by a nurse, just looked at by a first aider.
