Yes my husband had this very recently. He had enlarged prostate gland exactly the same symptoms as yours and had an operation where the prostate gland was shaved with a laser. I think he was in hospital 2 or 3 days with about 4-6 wks recovery afterwards. This was an extreme case though, as sometimes drugs might help and thus avoid an op. Altogether hubby is much better now and doesn't need to go so often especially in the night. Ask more questions and I will gladly try to help if you need to.
My step father has the same problems roslyn, unfortuanatly he's had all the scans etc etc and they have just put it down to 'having the problem since being a child'.
Its "the bladder being still half full" that's the worry cos that can lead to infection.
Yeah I understand that but it was the same with my step father. They must of assumed that is why he goes to the toilet every 30minutes during the night - I know this because I up through the night and asleep through the day.

Hi roslyn and dizmouk. my husband only needs to go to the toilet in the night if he drinks after about 9 in the evening. But in the day he can be going every hour or so. He was having trouble somes mornings when he got up as he wanted to go but couldnt except for a dribble. But that hasnt happened very often.
It is due almost certainly to Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy..........enlarged prostate....not cancerous.....very common............Google it.

Residual urine in the bladder after passing urine is a classical symptom.

Don't worry.

Many thanks sqad, every time I have asked a medical question you have always been so helpful, and put my mind at rest. My husband went to see his GP this morning and he now wants him to go to the hospital for an ultrascan. He mentioned he may have to have an op but that was if it is the worse case. After reading the information on BPH it seems to be the same symptoms. so now it has put his mind to rest. Thankyou.!
