Buy a 'fine-tooth' come from a chemist. Shampoo the hair then carefully come them out.

Sandy she has tried that, there still there. x
Comb them out with conditioner still in the hair.

Be careful with nit treatments...they are pesticides after all.
You can always go to the chemist and ask the pharmacist for advice.

She uses lots of conditioner and the fine tooth comb, but they just wont go, she sits still for about an hour for my daughter to do her hair, this is nearly every night, but she just cant seem to get rid of them all, ive told her she needs to get everyone out or they will hatch and she will be back to square one.
I was told to use tea tree conditioner whilst in the bath. Put shedloads of the stuff on, comb it through with a nit comb, and if at all possible leave on for as long as possible. I did this last summer with mine, and just left the conditioner in her hair (did it on a warm day!) through the day, plaited.

Apparently nits hate tea tree?

Is your daughter treating the entire family? If not, she should be, and so should anyone else who's had contact with your grandaughter, inlcuding you. Also bedding and anything else she might lay her head on.

Has play group or nursery, or where she got them from been informed?
Question Author
Yes the family has been treated, and nursery has been informed, i will tell her to leave the tea tree in as long as possible, she has got the tea tree which she has been using but im not sure how long she has been leaving it in. Thank you Boo.

She has informed them, she never got them until she started there, i think some mums just cant be bothered to sit for hours on end treating the hair, thats why its so rife. x
Get original listerene put in a spray bottle, spray all over and leave overnight. Wash out in the morning. This has to be repeated once a week until there are no more.

Has to be original as the flavoured ones contain sucrose that will make the hair a bit sticky; not too much of a problem as its washed next morning anyway.
Horrible isnt it when there seems to be parents who just can't be bothered? Does your grandaughter have long hair? It might be advisable to make sure its plaited, or at least in a pony tail whilst she is at nursery.

Incidently, anyone else's head now itching reading this? LOL

Yes EDDIE thats why she keeps getting it, it makes me so cross when its a case of " cant be bovered " and its the nursery she goes too isnt just the run of the mill one its a good expensive one, so they should be bloody bothered. Her hair when wet comes to her waist but its very curly. x
Question Author
Never heard of the Listerene one, ive just told her so keep all crossed its works. Thanks. xx
Not being a parent, my sympathy is entirely with your grandaughter! It must be awful being put through a regime which nearly ends up the wrong way round, with you being wiped out and the nits continuing their merry way. I do hope you clear it up soon for her sake!

Thank you so much Androcles for your words. x
I was told that vinegar is good for getting rid of them and to use washing up liquid instead of shampoo and conditioner. Can't remember why though. :s
In the bath apply shampoo, lie back in bath with scalp submerged for 5mins (lice will drown). If this is done every bathtime hatched nits will drown too. All should do it regularly to allay the problem.
Try using Hedrin lotion, my daughter has had nits almost permanantely since christmas, have tried different types of combs, lotions, prescriptions nothing worked.
I was moaning about it to my boss the other day and she said try Hedrin as it kills the actual lice and the eggs and its worked a treat. Make sure that you read the instructions and stuff carefully though especially if she has any allergies or asthma or anything.
Ignore that last post just read your post again durrrrrrrrrrr
