Anyone tried Virulite?

A new device for tackling & stopping cold sores in their tracks. The BF suffers from recurrent cold sores and has read about this on the internet. It's an electronic light device, costs around £28. Any personal experience would be welcome.

Has he been to docs about them. Are they coldsores or impetigo? Is he taking alot of vit C?

He's been to the docs. Stress & sunshine seem to exacerbate them - and he's had a lot of both recently. He must get an outbreak at least 5-6 times a year. He has an intolerance to dairy, and I wouldn't have thought got enough Vit C.

has he tried the hot teabag, place on area when he thinks he's going to get one, usually starts itching or tingling

I use Blistex relief cream. I always have it with me in my coat/jacket pocket and as soon as I feel it like bubbling I apply it over a couple of days and it goes.

When my top lip starts tingling with the promise of a cold sore I just rub it occasionally with some of the wifes 4711 perfume but I suppose any pure alcohol will do.
Never fails for me.

My young daughter got cold sores when we on holiday in Menorca recently. A waiter in a cafe told us to put toothpaste on the sores at night and that it would dry up the cold sores. We'd already bought some cream, so didn't try it, but it might be worth a go.

What works 100% is surgical spirits. As long as you get it when the tingling starts it never fails. It's a matter of drying it out and this is what the spirits do. Just put a bit on cotton wool and apply and don't wet the lip after. I repeat it a couple of hours later just to be on the safe side but 1 application is normally enough. I've used it for 30 years and it has never once failed me.
