Due to my Sciatica in both my legs, I am unable to get out to my car which is parked about 40yds away from my house, and I should have seen my Oncologist to-day. Do you think they would send my `psa` results by e-mail if I asked them to? Also this awful weather isn`t very helpful.
Carlton, I would ring them tomorrow and ask them - you don't want them to count you as a Did Not Attend, somene who just didn't turn up. You can but ask, but there are some things they might not want to send by email - people need results explained quite often, not just emailed to interpret on their own. Ask if you can have a chat to the consultant on the phone.
Oh Carlton Boxy is right, if you has rang them and explained about your immobility at the moment , they would have advised on the best course of action. Ring tomorrow and see what they advise.
I have recently been housebound with sciatica and have had to rearrange 3 separate appointments.
Take care.
If you have a problem like that Carlton you should phone your doctors surgery, explain and ask for a hospital car to pick you up. Give at least 24 hours notice.
Your surgery will fax your details to the transport office. If you're over 60 you will have no probs.
Pick up the phone ask Hosp for results, they may send a letter but won't email. Get another appt & do what I stated above - Good Luck
This is how it works from our docs anyway.
Carlton - I live in Bournemouth. If you have any problem with Jem's suggestion please do email me and I will do my level best to help out. Snow permitting of course.
[email protected] I have been driving for over 40 years and never lost a passenger yet ;o)
apologies to Carlton, all good advice above and how kind of Ena, what a lovely gesture.
Anne it is much better than it was, will never leave me is the result of breaking my knee in two places, you never walk straight again and it puts pressure on the sciatic nerve. Thank you for asking.
Carlton - I do mean my offer sincerely, you are very welcome to email me. I feel guilty that I haven't done so before and then you could have kept your appointment today. After all I have nothing more pressing to fill my time except annoy people on here.
anne - you are an old flatterer you know! I have my moments, but then I think all of us do :o)
ttfn: How very nice of you, but it`s getting to my car which is the main problem, my wife drives me to Poole Hospital but I will have to see if we can get a wheel chair to get to the car. Thankyou very much ttfn.
No problem Carlton - have you tried asking the occupational therapist - they were extremely helpful to my father and loaned him all sorts of equipment to help him from wheelchair to stair lift, bath seat lift and door entry tannoy system plus other items which made his life more bearable. If you haven't contacted them before do try. That is what they are there for and for which we have paid our dues. By all means do email me though - I would be only too happy to help out if I could at any time. x
