Can you request to borrow a zimmer frame from your local hospital? My husband has developed great weakness in his legs and indeed has just gone crashing down on his back.

Thanks for asking anne. The doctor came out and told him that he should go into hospital to diagnose his condition properly. He has diabetes and also as he has abused his liver through alcohol, it is his liver which controls so many of the body's functions that is breaking down......What does he do????? Refuses to go into hospital!!!!!
He spent the nigfht downstairs and says he wi;ll stay here until he speaks to his own doctor tomorrow. I have siad that iof he went in today, got diagnosed, he woulD probably be out by Friday. But no he knowa best. Grr and Double Grr!!!!

oh, chrissa i think he has done the right thing going into hospital, no one wants to be admitted over xmas, but with the fall last night and his immobility and cold swollen legs i am no expert, but hospital sounds the best place, poor you. have you family friends around to support you , know you will be busy, but keep in touch. anne
Thank you Anne and Woofgang. We got him away at 8.30 with just a slight little glitch when the ambulance arrived and he decided he would go in the morning because of the snow. The ambulance man told him the snow was here for weeks and if his doctor had advised him to go, then go he must. They tried walking him out but he collapsed so we got the stretcher and man-handled him down the drive.
So, at least he's there now and they can find the best way to treat him.
When I mentioned the zimmer frame to the doc he said that you have to have good mobility to use one and he didn't have that. Fingers crossed.

If my niece falls her husband gets the paramedics out as she is too heavy for him and disabled so that she cannot get enough strength to pull herself up. They will help to pick up anyone who has fallen like this. They have the necessary training to do this without hurting either themselves or their patients and they are very kind and sympathetic (it goes with the job).
Well, it's now Christmas Night and my OH is still in hospital. I am being treated like the Wicked Witch of the West for putting him in there in the first place!! His mobility has deteriorated and the Physios won't let him come home until it improves.
He had all sorts of nasty things done to him, up the back and front. Not nice.
He's not speaking to me. Ah well.
