It`s me again, and I would like to know, (as you know my problems) if, as the Tramadol tablets I`m taking (4 daily @ 4 hourly intervals) the effects don`t last long enough to ease my discomfort in the evening. They only last about 3 hours before I feel I need another one. Do you think I should ask my GP for a higher dose?
You could ask them for the slow release ones Carlton, or ask for your dose to be made higher. I am on the maximum of 100mg (two 50mg capsules) 4 times daily.
Carlton already said he is on the 50mg capsules sqad.
The maximum dose is not (as you state) 25mgm 4 times daily as I am taking the maximum of 100mg 4 times daily as prescribed by the pain clinic at BVH.
Please don`t argue on my account u2... I am taking 2x50mg`s starting this morning as having read the instructions again on the box, it states, in deed that dose. That`ll teach me to be more observant in future and not cause rows between you. Sqad, I`m getting the pains in my hips and legs.
hi carlton, i don't know if you are already, but i would like to point out the benefits of taking paracetamol in conjunction with tramadol - they both enhance the effect of the other, and no-one quite knows why.
If the increased dose dosen't work, plus adding in paracetamol, i would recommend a "rescue" analgesia as well (something you can take in between if the pills wear off - my example would be a small dose of oramorph)
This morning when I went downstairs an hour after taking 100mg`s and 2 Paracetamol tablets, I walked into the kitchen and I felt very giddy and had to quickly sit or fall over and informed my GP.
have to say i think your GP is a little strange - he/she has a choice between paracetamol and tramadol as to what made you dizzy and picks paracetamol!
Anyway, hope you feel more pain free soon
Sorry to get back on the subject again, but now the Tramadol isn`t working as well as the Etodolac tablets I was taking before. Do you think it would be OK to start back on them in the morning?
