for the last few days, as the day has gone on ive got a terrible pain from my jaw, up side of face, across to eye socket and forehead and down side of nose.
the rest of the time my eye feels as if its been removed from my head, bashed about a bit and shoved back.
Ive started taking my one a day antihistamines and paracetomol but i cant shift the initial ache on corner of eye and side of nose :( the pain is again building up today.
Im flying next week and i get pains in my jaw when flying as it is so am dreading it.
any ideas how to shift it?
ps, sqad, i cant take ibuprofen :)

Well, it could be of sinus origin.........but have you had a cold recently or discharge from your nose or blockage of one nostril?

Is this unilateral or bilateral?

Why cant you take Ibuprofen?
Question Author
asthmatic, sqad, makes it flare badly.
Its only on one side, though it started to go across bridge of nose and above other eye yesterday but went fairly quickly. Just the one eye feels battered.and bruised.
had a cold a few weeks back now, though apart from lingering cough was fine.
Right.....any past history of migraine or recent anxiety state or depression.

You havent answered if you have nasal discharge or unilateral nasal blockage.
once again can I suggest sterimar spray? if you have an inflamed sinus or any junk floating around in there, it will soothe, soften and flush out and help to take down any swelling....nodrugs, no side effects..
Question Author
no blockage or discharge.
get hormonal migraines which are similar but not same place. Stress? 2 kids under 6 probably answers that :)
Question Author
woofgang, is that same as saline drops i used for babies?
OK...doesnt sound like sinus problem at all, but a from of facial neuralgia......atypical facial pain. Ibuprofen would have been the answer, but that is out.

I would take...two 650mgm Paracetamol and let me know how it goes.
Question Author
Thanks sqad. woofgang i shall get to chemist asap if this pain cycle continues and try that spray.
morning red............. as you are flying next week, a word with a pharmacist of practice nurse........ how is nephew ?
Question Author
got no chance of making time to see nurse, anne, so will go to chemist at end of week.

Deryn is doing well, final drugs tomorrow and hoping this round doesnt give give the pancreatitis that he had with last 2 lots.
good. ill be thinking of him and family,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i know you are very busy red.....but your health is important !
Yes it's the same as baby saline but made from sea water.
you can't get 650 mg paracetamol tablets in this country
I tend to agree with Squad actually about it being a neurological problem rather than sinus pain. I get something very similar which also extends down the side of my neck.
Do you clench your teeth by any chance when you are stressed.
Sqad, Sqad, Sqad............

I keeping putting a 'u' in there!!
Lofty....you can put me ANYWHERE as long as I am with you ;-)

bednobs......oh! dear .......never mind the equivalent to 1300mgms Paracetamol.
Question Author
not that i know of, lottie. Went to eat something earlier and the pain for first few minutes was awful, right in the joint of my jaw then spreading out. Just on that side again. Have just had lunch though and no pain at all lol
Doesn't sound like a sinus problem to me Red. Seems to come from your jaw and be a referred pain of some sort.

Hope you feel better soon.

Squad :o)
Question Author
maybe my jaw will lock, just in time to lose weight for summer ;)
Mine locks regularly as I have a weird jaw and it was also dislocated when I was young. I haven't noticed any difference in my weight.

And I can talk for England!!!
