Hi all.
I posted last week saying I was worried about my daughter, who has a bowel problem. She saw a specialist yesterday and although she still needs to have the colonoscopy soon, he said that he thought it was colitis (well done on your diagnosis Sqad!). She has also got a fistula which wll need operating on. Bloods have been taken and they are testing for hyperthyroidism, Crohn's and also liver function.
She is staying very positive and is less freaked out after seeing the specialist than she was this time last week!
Thanks again to everyone who replied to my original post-very helpful.
Best wishes, Maz x

Mazzy - Good of you to update us - let's hope everything goes well in the future.
Thanks for letting us know Mazzy, Hope she gets better soon xxx
A fistula....in that case it sounds more like Crohn's but a biopsy will confirm either way.

Thank's for the update.

Hi Sqad. Even though I said I wouldn't go on the internet looking up symptoms, I did so and there does seem to be reason to think they are looking a a possibility of Crohn's. ie: weight loss, the fistula, blood loss and cramping. Will obviously let you know what the outcome of the tests and colonoscopy is.

mazzy....one associates fistulae with Crohn's disease rather than Ulcerative colitis,on the other hand, Crohn's disease is unusual in the colon.

Interesting to follow.
hope all goes well, treatment for thes e things pretty good these days.all best wishes, petal.puts my lack of a full nights sleep for past 10 days into prospective!
