Some are better than others. Try not to get one that's too tight, or you will always be aware of it and distracted. I use them on rare occassions. If on your own though, I reckon black out curtains/blinds must be a better option.
Or if the problem is a partner reading while you want to sleep, a thin light pillow on top of your head works quite well. Probably gives your partner ideas too.
Naughty Sqad! Altough I'm not sure what I expected.
Hi OG. I would love a black out blind but the window in my room is really wide and it looks expensive to get one that fits properly so thought I might try the cheaper option first. Usually the other half is there but as he usually sees me with yesterdas mascara smeared accross my face then the mask will be a nice change for him. :)
Thanks Annemollie. It certainly looks like nice, quality stuff on that site. I might just try some cheaper ones first to see how I get on with them then if I get used to it could treat myself to some really nice ones.

I used to use the masks I got on long-haul, but they weren't comfortable, as they were either too tight or slipped around. I am addicted to this one - it may sound nonsensical, but there is a lovely 'secure' feeling when I wear it. I also sleep very well.
My bedroom faces east, and I'm neither overlooked nor a great fan of curtains.
Do you have a birthday coming up soon?
I'm not sleeping well in general at the moment for various reasons but the light in the mornings isn't helping so really want to try a mask. Birthday isn't until December sadly but I have just remembered the boyfriend owes me 50 quid and he gets paid tomorrow. :o)
Go on - treat yourself - you won't regret it, I promise. in fact, I find it difficult to relax completely without it, and the lavender is so comforting.
I tried one but couldn't get on with it. It slipped off in my sleep, one time it ended up round my neck and woke me up because I thought my oh was trying to strangle me. lol
It also left indentations on the side of my face and it took a couple of hours for them to disappear the following day.
My OH has to wear one because he has sleep apnoea. When he first got it he had to go to the sleep clinic and have it properly fitted and to get the right right mask for his mouth shape. It stays in place with a neoprene harness which was fiddly to put on at first but now he's used to it he can fit it in seconds even with the light off.
It does make a residual noise, especially in the early hours of deep sleep when the pressure's really kicking in. However, I've become used to it over time and it doesn't keep me awake anymore. He's not been able to wear it for a couple of nights because of a cough and he kept awake last night with snoring that I haven't heard in months. I woke up with baggy eyes and he woke up with bruised shins. :-D
And yes, he can move around in bed whilst wearing it - turning over and so on.
Hi Daffy, looking at reviews of different masks it appears you have to try a few before you find one you like. I think it would be a worse nights sleep if I had one like the one you had.
Hi Saxy, I think you might have misunderstood what I'm talking about. I'm after the masks you use to cover your eyes that block out light so you get a decent nights kip. :o)
