Extract from Harrods dress code for female staff (in ALL deprtments) ...

"FULL make up must be owrn at work.

Lips are to be enhanced with lipliner, lipstick AND lipgloss AT ALL TIMES.

A base and full eyes must be painted on the face."

Would you comply with such a ... frankly ... sexist and outdated dress code, just to work at Rods ...

... or would you tell them to shove their lipstick up their By Royal Appointment butts ??!!??

I wonder what their policy is on male staff wearing full make up..... :)
Jayne - Harrods no longer has any royal warrants

The Grocer of Knightsbridge saw to that.

Hiya, kazzamac.

LOL ... yes, I wonder.

The male dress code is much shorter. Men must simply ...

... apply deodorant (yes!), trim fingernails, and avoid visible tattoos".
What nonsense. But didn't they get stripped of their royal warrant?
I don't wear any make up to work and very little when I go for a night out so I would have to tell them where to go!
Question Author
Golly, DTC ... I'd missed that news item !
they are now owned by the Qatar royal family, I think, so they may get their warrants back.
Good grief, I've never worn a full-face of make-up in my life (never even bought foundation) - I would be a nervous wreck just trying to get all that glop in the right place. (I find if you have lower standards they are easier to maintain.)
Question Author
We could trade the World Cup for some Royal warrants.
actually, it's not the sexistness of the makeup code that's so hilarious, it's the sheer detail. Exactly how many millgrams of lip gloss, do you think? These things are important.
They were removed from the east side of the Knightsbridge store yonks ago, Jayne.....you cant go around calling the Duck of Edinboar a fuggin' Nazi.

Apparently the Grocer has a penchant for using the f word but can only say Fugger and Private Eye aka Ian Hislop has played up on that one, calling him the Fugger.

All three are down, Queen Brenda's the Duck's and also Prince Brian's - the Queen of Gin's came down as well - in fact I recall now this was all before her death.
Would those rules apply to the ladies who clean the lavs?
Hey JJ, not seen you for a while - how are you doing?
It's very sexist anyway. I'd tell them to stuff it but I don't see them headhunting me, so I won't worry too much :)
Are the rules similar for air hostesses or do they just like to wear lots of make up?
Question Author
SK ...

The sort of full make up required by Rods feels like having cling film on your face.

They might as well tell their female staff to wear burkhas.
ive never work make up, so probbaly wouldn't apply in the first place. I wonder if your boss would have the balls to argue if you said " but i do have make up on"
Question Author
I don't know, kazza. They do wear a lot, don't they !!

(even the male cabin crew!!)

If they did head hunt you, kazza ... you'd have a heck of a commute to work !

(love the new avatar, LOL)
Do I see & read bullying here?
New Royal Warrants will be going up shortly apparently

"By Royal Appointment to the Crown Prince of Qatar."

Maybe there's a football in the coat of arms with the motto of
"Pleb Treats" (an anagram of Sep Blatter).
Question Author
Hi, e_s

That would be a bit of a confrontation, wouldn't it !!

What would happen if a female member of staff developed an allergy to make up?
