I make myself comfortable in bed, comfy pillows, bedside lamp on, and maybe a cup of herbal tea then I'll read a book until my eyes droop. Sometimes that doesn't work - so I'll read again. Try to take it calmly don't worry yourself thinking "Oh I have to sleep now" and getting uptight about it, it will be impossible to drop off if you do.
Thanks for all your advice.....the problem is I managed to get of sleep really easily but I'm waking at about 1-2am each morning for a few hours thinking about alsorts of things - I think its becoming a habit!
I will look into one of those wristbands if they work that is!!
