Early people

Why are some people always early?  If I arrange a time, why do some people always turn up before the expected time?  If I'd wanted them early, I'd have arranged an earlier time.  Why can't people be at least 5 minutes late, just in case I'm not ready?

My mum is always ounctual for things and so it has also influenced me to be as well i only get to somewhere early if its an important interview etc otherwise i get there on time, i feel like i let people down if i dont come at the time specified, i always give myself enought ime for things as i hate to rush, i would rahter have 10 mins spare to relax before im ready to leave to be somewhere than rush around, it kind of makes me feel out of control and i would rahter know where i am going etc. Odd i know....

I presume this question is a result of the 'Late People' question further down the page!

I don't like early people either.  It's OK for an interview, work  or when catching a train, etc., but I certainly don't find it OK when people turn up early at my home when they are invited round, or come to collect me to take me out.

Because I am basically a late or last minute person who struggles to be on time I simply hate people arriving just as I get out of the shower or when I am getting dressed.  I think they should wait outside if they are early and not knock at my door until a few minutes after the agreed time.  In fact, I think it is rude to expect to be let in early.

I think this is where I differ from you FP.  Though I'm a late person,  I don't mind people coming round early.  They're going to have to wait for me anyway and probably make me later than I was going to be in the first place with idle chit chat, offers of tea etc ;o).

I like to be early for things, but I would never turn up to a friend's house early unless I had arranged it in advance, e.g. to help set up for a party.

I don't want to worry about traffic, tube problems etc, so I get somewhere early and wander about, have a coffee, sit in the sun and chill out until it's time to arrive.  I'd rather arrive 20 minutes early for a train than miss it.

This is not a problem because time does not exist. That excuse is a real winner when late for job interviews.
