none of them work quickly :(

Lol, we have space travel, nano technology and the world wide web yet a little nail infection can get the better of us?
Agree that none work quickly and yet to find that one works at all to be honest. Months and months of painstaking application and cleanliness for little reward! Sorry....

Well mine are far from bad but still there so will do a little research and HOPEFULLY find something that works and then I'll com back and post my review/recommendations for the rest of my fellow sufferers.
have you thought of going to the GP for advice, or failing that a chiropodist?
Question Author
Actually that's a good idea as I usually self medicate but will be going to the dr's anyway for my pre holiday jabs, so thanks.
I was told by someone that caniston works very quickly and is successful. Not tried it myself but they know someone who is in the nail business and apparently best known cure. I shall definitely be trying it next time I have problems.
medication called turbinofine...x

Thanks riptide and lcg76, I'll look into them.
Terbinafine tablets cleared mine but it took more than 6 months and I had to have a couple of blood tests to check they weren't damaging my liver.

Will try Canesten if they recur.
Question Author
6 months? That's a tad long!
It depends on the type of infection. Some bugs are completely resistent to Canesten. I have had success with Tolnaftate and Canesten together.

I lost the nail a couple of times in between
Try soaking your feet in a solution of pottasium permanganate. It kills most fungus infections, athletes foot etc.
Downside is that it will stain your skin and nails. Wears off quite quickly
i have tried everything even prescription products and still cant shift it....i have heard vicks vapour rub is supposed to work , Google it...i have yet to try it.
What i can say is ignore all the so called miracle cures sold on e bay & the like, made mine worse..
My GP told me that the only guaranteed way is a course of tablets but there was a problem, the tablets are likely to damage you liver or kidneys or something.

Thanks but no thanks, a manky toe nail I can live with.
Try Tea Tree Oil
My OH has a manky toenails, he's been to his gp who prescribed some nail treatment for them, but the problem is still there, that was two years ago. He can't get over-the counter stuff because of something in his medication. So atm he is living with it. Mr Brother in law also had a fungal infection the doc prescribed him some tablets and they made him ill, shouldn't have taken them with some of his normal medicine. He eventually went to a chiropodist who kept cutting his nails right down. I think he is OK now.
And why always the the big toe nail ??
my mates got a fungal infection on one of her toenails... shes been putting cream on for about 2 years now...it hasnt gone.....
I blame trainers for his nail infection. Up until a few years ago he always wore leather shoes, and then he decided to get some trainers for his sport. Thats when the problem started with him.
