I have just suddenly come out in what I think is eczema on both of my eyelids. It is halfway up both lids and starts at the inner corner spreading roughly halfway accros my lids. It is red, itchy and rough.
Could this be because I am maybe 'run down' (I have been off work since the end of June with a spinal fracture) I am not using any different products, I am attending hydrotherapy but I am not allergic to chlorine.
Does anybody have any ideas on what it might be, possible cause and treatment?
I really appreciate you help as it looks awful and is driving me mad lol!
I'm sure you'll get lots of advice and will be able to sort out what suits you best - in the meantime, if you have any oats, put some in a tea towel and soak in water - after a while bathe your eyes with the liquid. hope you feel better soon.
An industrial nurse told my husband that Nivea Creme was very good for skin problems, and I have found it soothing on my eyelids in the past, if used thinly
No, I do not wear spectacles. It is a complete mystery to me as it has just came from nowhere. Same question to you also about the cream, do I have to have this prescribed or can I get it from the pharmacist? I'm just asking this as I was only at the doctor's on Friday about my back. I feel that I might as well move into the surgery lol!
gingejbee's suggestion is just as good as mine, both are steroids, but I cant see the logic of being able to get hydrocortisone over the counter and not Synalar............but so be it........hydrocortisone will do the trick.
I will try the hydrocortizone cream from the chemist, then if that does not work I will try Squad's suggestion when I go back to the doctor's next week.
Just to say seshat,
I aquired contact dermatitis & didn't know why. Turned out I had become allergic to a mascara I was using ( had been using it for many years ) After a visit to the doctor I was advised to go out & buy a Hyper allergenic one. Problem solved! Had the manufaturer added another ingredient?
I use Barry M liquid eyeliner and Benefit Mascara. I have used these for years with no problems whatsoever. However, as I have been at home sick I have not even been wearing that as I have just been inside most of the time. I have only worn the mascara when going to the doctor's.
I left the offending mascara off seshat, it took a while even to get an improvement! So, still worth considering that line of thinking, just a thought. Hope you get to the bottom of it!
