Why do care homes close down when things go wrong?.... why don't they not just change the staff.
I'd hate the thought of one of my loved ones going into a place that. How can you tell if it's a good home?
BAKERS DOZEN, respite care is very different!........they are only there for a week or two, the staff can cope with them arriving and going home again, not their long term problem, when they have them day in and day out, that's when the problems occur!........have seen it happen so many times!....
I know nothing of these places but I'm just wondering if they are subject to snap inspections, or is the fact that they're private means they are not subject to such things ?
She wouldn't know...she has dementia. She gets taken out often and has random visits. Grandad would be very quick to complain if he was mistreated in any way.
Vulcan - most of the homes are means tested. Some residents pay, some are council funded. The treatment is the same regardless. My grandparents pay for their own care.
I know some of them are subject to snap inspections, but that would be after many complaints, Most of these homes are a private enterprise and are only concerned with making a profit.
No one knows what goes on behind the scenes of some of these care homes! Take on monkeys and pay peanuts. Its amazing how cruel some Baa lambs can be. And yes I have worked as a carer for years. Most of homes are only in it for the ££££. Nevermind, they to will get old one day.
