For as long as I can remember when I pinch my nostrils together, my nose makes a squelching sound like there's loads of fluid inside. It makes no difference if I blow my nose, it will still make this noise.
I know it's nothing to worry about but when I've asked other people to do it, their nose doesn't make a noise at all. Why is this? Thanks
Well you could have a condition known as vasomotor rhinitis where the lining of the nose is "extra moist." This is sometimes associated with an allergy, but not always, it is sometimes associated with dusty occupations and it is sometimes associated with anxiety states.
It is often related to sex.....Google "Honeymoon Rhinitis"
Thank you for taking the time to answer. When I was younger I had rhinitis. I felt like I had these flaps behind my nose which would open and close at times, it was horrible but luckily, I seemed to outgrow it. I don't suffer with hayfever but sometimes get an itchy nose.
On holiday when I was sunbathing/led down for a while, I'd get blocked up on one side.
Anyway, thanks for you answer. I can tell my husband that I'm not a freak now! lol
Ooh I get that, didn't think anything of it. My nose tends to run a lot in the cold and especially when lying face down like on a massage table and feel irritated which I assume is a mild allergy. I don't get hayfever badly, mainly some cat hair or lots of dust and really bad around horses so have to take an antihistimine before going riding etc...
That said, when they diagnosed me with menieres disease they said that I could have allergic rhinitis too and I have a nasal spray for it.
