Terre Degli Angeli Greco di Tufo. This is a bold an expressive example of the ancient Greco monovarietal. Abundant with tropical fruit and honey flavour, this wine is powerful yet elegant, very balanced with a long finish. Partners very well with cold dishes such as stuffed vine leaves and marinated artichoke hearts. Available in Waitrose for £13.99.
Marlborough Sounds NZ Sauvignon Blanc. A dynamic wines with striking aromas and favours of passionfruit and citrus zest. The perfect white to serve on its own or with a goats cheese starter. Currently on offer in the Co-op at £5.49.

The Co-op has got a 2006 "Marques de Valido" Rioja Reserva on offer at £5.49 - at this price it's a real steal - loads of lovely fruitiness & great with Roast Dinners :)
< don't bother with my local co-op minimarket though - the shelves have just been cleared :+) >

I was trying to avoid Truro tomorrow except for the cheese shop which is on the edge of the town - it was a zoo in there today.
I have a Zephyr 2010 Sauv Blanc to go with a salmon mousse,
A Marqués de Vargas Riserva 1998 with Roast Duck and cheese
A Royal Tokaji 2005 for dessert and I may sneak a glass of that up front as I acquired a taste in Belgium for a wee snifter of a "Sauterne or Ice wine" as an aperitif....
Evening smoked salmon, cheee nibbles like pigs in blankets, and some cold duck and turkey, a Martin Cendoya Rioja 06

Hi Euphemia. You want something fresh and zippy but nothing that will overwhelm the capon's flavour. Morrisons are doing a verdejo called Cano for around a fiver. Asda are selling a beautiful Albarino for under £8 and I would probably be inclined to go with that.
DT... I am always on the hunt for a good, complex Zinfandel, if you find any. Your menu sounds lovely.

NoM seems to have gone shopping - the local co-op is under siege :)
I think the Aldi Chablis ( http://www.aldi.co.uk...ecial_buys3_22313.htm ) would be lovely with a Capon - it's got a bit more ooomph than some whites & would go well with a Roast ...
